Though I've been fiddling with graphic design since I left school I am very much still finding my feet in the video/motion graphics side of things. Having said that I'm never overly impressed with much of the visuals you typically see thrown against a wall behind a DJ.
Akin to my live audio work I would be the first to say that my studio-rendered work pales in comparison to the top in the field but I endeavour to reproduce the same live, on the spot, using a complex setup and a bit of the ol' black magic. I've had a few VJ gigs so far and it's definitely an area which I feel I can apply my skills in live performance.
I've also been working hard on sync'd up a/v setups whereby the MIDI data controlling the audio is also sent to another computer to manipulate video playback and effecting. This was developed for the Putsch group but is also now being implemented into the Ronin solo live act.
It's ambitious but I'm slowly working towards a setup which would include the above plus synchronised lighting, cameras and a performance element with sensor inputs to tie it all together. If anyone wants to sponsor me a van to cart all the kit around in, soze the better.
I will get some clips of my video work online asap, which also reminds me that there is live footage of Putsch which needs to get uploaded too. If you wanna talk about getting me in for some visuals just drop me some chitty-chat.
