Biog

You can find out more about me below but in short: It all began in 1998 with the formation of the H.E.A.D.F.U.K. Sound System. Since then I've been putting tracks to wax and playing electronic dance music for the feet and the brain live as much as I can in the UK and Europe. Over the years the Headfuk Music Unkorporated label dwindled to it's now currently zero output and I generally became more and more focussed on producing music in the live set format. In a squat party, field or half-decent club is where I want to be heard - and so I tailor my music to work in that format.

Since 2008 I've also been dabbling in some VJ and DJ sets too which retain many of the techniques and aesthetics of my livesets. This is also slowly coming together in an audio/visual marriage - as my liveset is being developed to become one laptop for audio and another one synced and doing video output, all managed from the same set of MIDI controllers. Check the audio and video pages for some of my work in these areas, though I am notoriously bad at documenting my own work!

A PARTLY FICTIONAL HISTORY

After decapitating the last of the warlords and relaxing with a nice cup of tea, the Ronin lay low his sword and focused on mastering his sonic weaponry. Ever since, he has been staging battles with dancefloors across the european continent. Sparing no one, and showing no mercy or remorse, he has pursued his mission to combine the most powerful elements of electronic dance music into a single force.
His technique is always developing and bringing new influences into the fold so although he has cut his way onto vinyl, the best place to see this artist flex his styles is to catch him at free parties and clubs where he performs fresh material live.

MUSICAL HISTORY

Spawned the Headfuk sound system and played on its rig most weekends in London since 1998. Headfuk have also played in warehouse and outdoor parties in Bristol, Manchester and across the UK. The sound system has gone on tour to France, Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Poland, Hungary, Yugoslavia and Croatia to play at clubs and free festivals.

Apart from playing for other sound systems Ronin has played at clubs and events for other promoters in London, Bristol, Cambridge, Amsterdam, Firenze, Praha, Roma, Toulouse, Barcelona, Paris, Bruxelles, Cork, Edinburgh, Liverpool and others he probably can’t remember.

Along with other artists and estranged sound system members Ronin forged the No Fixed Abode collective in 2006. In a very short period of time they have garnered a large following and Ronin is one of the resident acts, playing his liveset and also DJing and VJing as well.

In late 2007 Ronin embarked on his first group project with IN[flussi] and the Mission Creep DJs entitled Putsch. This meant broadening his production horizons to a more improvised live setup involving synchronised video projections.

During 2008 Ronin developed a new liveset based around the techniques used for Putsch but with a more improvised method, working from a few basic loops to produce a set which is as complex and deep as many studio-productions could hope for. This is also progressing into a solo audio/visual live act with performance elements.
